The main fireplace is in the middle of the house, in the dining/library/sitting room, a.k.a Earnest's Room. It's wonderful to sit by the fire and read in a room without a television or computer. My dogs and I are the only ones who use the room.
The fireplace dressed up for a holiday ad in a regional newspaper.
I found my faux deer head at an antique store. I named him Earnest after Oscar Wilde's play, "The Importance of Being Earnest". Every year he wears a beautiful wreath, compliments of my talented friend.
I hope you enjoyed the photos and can forgive me for posting winter reminders so close to spring.
Have a beautiful day,

Earnests room is so charming, its all GOOD!
I love looking at every little detail.
Thanks for blogging!
Absolutely beautiful and comfortable looking rooms ( I can see down the hall). I'd like to read there by the fire myself.
You're so lucky to have an open fireplace. There's nothing quite like an open fire to make me feel all warm and snuggly.
We're hoping to open up one of our fireplaces at some point and I'm SO excited about it!

Ann-Marie, your blog is lovely and your home is beautiful. What a nice home you have. I found you on Debbiedoos Newbie Party. I am also new to blogging. I have become your newest follower.
Thanks for sharing.
I love your sense of humor, naming a room after a faux deer head--and after a funny play at that!
Happy 1st Blue Monday, Ann Marie.
Please fix the Blue Monday link. It should be:

Ann-Marie, I love your home but I am REALY in love with the Earnest Room. So inviting and cozy. I can just imagine what a delight it is to sit and read by the fire. And I noticed that you have two viintage shoe forms by it? I am a shoe designer (hopefully one day will make it a career) and if I have a radar for spotting shoe forms since I also collect them...LOL. Great use of them.

It's a wonderful treat to have a room that one can call their own, a retreat from everything. I have such a room, too, but need to use it more often!
I love this room and can imagine how peaceful it is sitting by the fire. The colors are wonderful. Thanks for sharing it with us!
I just adore your room Ann-Marie!! Something so much like I would love in my own home! That painting is fantastic! I love our wood burning fire place too and am happy to clear out the ashes in spring as well!! Thank you for your offer to re-do something at your house- goodness, everything looks so gorgeous already, I can't imagine there being anything to be re-done~ It's beautiful! :) Courtney
We are almost there too, Spring is certainly arriving in Georgia and our fires will be no more. My husband loves to build a huge one. Maybe I can squeeze in just one more. :-) Coming to you today from Debbiedoos Newbie party!
Absolutely lovely Ann-Marie. Beautiful winter reminders, on this snowy March morning in Missouri.

Ann-Marie,
I would love to have a spot of tea in the Earnest room. I love the fabrics, rugs, drapes and of course Earnest.

I love fireplaces. You are so lucky...we had one in our last home, but unfortunately not in this one. You are right about the mess, but it is so worth it. Aaaah, I miss our fireplace moments with my hubs there :) . Your home is beyond perfect, really, love it.
