Quirky Little Bedroom:Part II

I thought I'd share more photos from my strange little bedroom. The room has some obvious quirks, yet I adore its coziness. However, there's still much to be done to increase its warmth. Of all the rooms at Brambly, this is the one I want to completely overdo. I want the walls packed full of pictures and oddities and I've been on a long scouting mission for plaid rugs.I'm looking to increase the use of fabric substantially and trying to convince my husband that a fireplace is an absolute necessity (not working so far). My plans include the ceiling, I regret not wallpapering it and I long for beams. At the very least, I plan on trimming the corners, where the wallpaper and ceiling meet, with an affordable gimp. Maybe I don't need a bedroom at all, just a cocoon.

Once the walls are filled, I'll be closer to the look of "organized abundance" that I adore.

The basket under the plaid chair holds our laundry.

I fell in love with this piece from Redford House at the San Francisco Furniture Show.

The French Doors limit furniture placement options.

You may recall the "Under the Eaves" photos from last week. It's a very awkward space.

I had to end with a photo of Birdie. I don't purposely place her in so many photos, apparently she's looking to get noticed.

Thanks for visiting! Be sure to check back because my first giveaway is coming up very soon.

Have a beautiful day,

Gloria,

My daughters shared an attic room on the other side of the house. It has very similar angles to ours. They were still sharing during the home tour in the 90s. Have a wonderful weekend.

Ann- Marie~ When can I come over?!?!?! I adore your style and your bedroom is absolutely darling- Love your choice of fabrics and the delightful toile wallpaper of course. What about a faux fireplace for the bedroom? They make some beautiful ones as little heaters with gorgeous wood mantles and are fantastic for adding ambiance where there is no wood burning fireplace... Might be a good compromise for hubby! :) Thank you for sharing this at FNF! :)

I love your design style. I understand how you want to fill the walls up. I have been working on this project in my downstairs bathroom. I am filling the walls with floral artwork.

Be still my mismatched fabric loving heart! Utterly darling. I think small rooms are so dear. Who wants to live in a cavernous space? I love visiting your site, please keep sharing these spaces with us. :)

Love, love, the wallpaper. Makes me lonesome for some old houses of mine!! Also love the cabbage roses on the painting and pillows. So nice to see some life and color after the neutral theme going on all around me. I think you should continue the fireplace campaign ~ it would be perfect!
Have a great day.
Sue
ps ~ haven't read back in your blog yet, but is your cottage named after the Brambly Hedge books? {it could be if it's not:-) }

I love the cozy feel of your seating area. I love beams in a room, too and understand why you want them. I told my husband I wish we had added them to our great room. Of course we were already over budget when we built so some things were a no.

Oh Ann-Marie! I'm so glad you shared more of your gorgeous bedroom! You know, here is the thing I love about your decorating style...it is so elegant and full of textures and rich fabrics and color...and yet it is all still totally approachable. Sometimes I look at magazines and the rooms look lovely but like I might be afraid to sit down on the bed! You know? I love a little bit more of a traditional style but I always want people to feel comfortable in my home too and I think you have shown how the two aspects can peacefully coexist. :-) Love it!

What a comfortable and charming bedroom Ann Marie! I love the colors and the coziness of it...it so reminds me of my mother's parents homes. Every house that they lived in had a cozy lived in feel that was so welcoming. Love that cabinet and that little love seat...little Birdie looks like she loves it too! Hope your day is a good one.

I can completely envision a fireplace and some ceiling beams in that room, Ann Marie! Then, of course, you might be tempted to never leave it. ;)
