Taking a Break

I'll be taking a break from my blog for a bit. I was recently hired as the event coordinator for a historic hotel, and with wedding and garden party season fast approaching I have many details to tie together. Additionally, my daughter graduates high school in two weeks and starts the summer session at her college in three weeks. I'll be back as soon as I can catch my breath.

Take care,

Hang It High

I'm slightly obsessed with filling my walls with pictures and objects. One of my goals is to fill most of my wall space with things I find beautiful or interesting. I love to display above doorways, over windows, and to hang disparate objects vertically.
I love to hang a series of mixed objects.

Mr. Fox greets kitchen visitors.

A male silhouette accentuates one of the arches in the kitchen.

His partner accentuates the other.

Over the pocket door in the kitchen.

The breakfast room doorway.

Ernest hangs high on the fireplace.

I found this antique picture when I was 18. It was the first picture I bought for my new house.

I collect antique berry bowls to fill the space above my bay window.

A small door under the stairs.

My husband found this pair of storybook lanterns at a great little shop. Later, while spending the weekend in Carmel, we noticed they were almost identical to the lights hanging on all the fairytale buildings around town.

My husband's closet door.

A picture placed behind fabric, at the top of my bed canopy.

A picture hanging above the windows and under the eaves in my daughter's room.

Bedroom Browsing

I'm about to redecorate my daughter's bedroom and turn it into a guest room. I cannot express how excited I am for this project. For the past few years the room has been painted in a shocking blue with posters hanging haphazardly on the walls. The day my 14 year old makes the move down the hall to her sister's old room, I will be impatiently waiting with a paint bucket in hand. The bedrooms below inspire me with their beauty-if I can pull off a bit of their charm I will be very pleased.
