Dousing The Flames In Earnest's Room

Today, I cleaned out my main fireplace because I'm determined to avoid  lighting another fire until early October. I love having a fire burning, but by this time of the year I'm tired of the mess and will gladly rely on my other heat sources.

The main fireplace is in the middle of the house, in the dining/library/sitting room, a.k.a Earnest's Room. It's wonderful to sit by the fire and read in a room without a television or computer. My dogs and I are the only ones who use the room.

The fireplace dressed up for a holiday ad in a regional newspaper.

I found my faux deer head at an antique store. I named him Earnest after Oscar Wilde's play, "The Importance of Being Earnest". Every year he wears a beautiful wreath, compliments of my talented friend.

I hope you enjoyed the photos and can forgive me for posting winter reminders so close to spring.

Have a beautiful day,
